Back Ground:
Sangtani Women Rural Development Organization (SWRDO) is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious, and non-government organization struggling for sustainable development. It involves the general public, particularly vulnerable groups, and organizations, and operates without discrimination based on religion, race, color, nationality, and ethnicity. SWRDO registered under Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Act 1961 with Social Welfare Dept on 09-September 1997, Registration Number: DDSW (DGK) 97 / 181 of 1997. The Federal Government of Pakistan introduced a new law “Punjab Charity Commission Act 2018” for the registration of the charity organization. According to the new law SWRDO was re-registered under the Punjab Charity Commission Act 2018 with the Government of Punjab Pakistan on 06-Nov-2020 with Registration No. PB-RJP-4540113479948254.
SWRDO is a tax exempted and certified organization of the Pakistan Center for Philanthropist (PCP). SWRDO recently signed an MoU with Economic Affairs Divisions (EAD), Federal Government of Pakistan for the implementation of foreign-funded projects in Punjab Province of Pakistan. SWRDO is using registered web-based software of “Financial Information System” (FIS) and Management information system (MIS) as per the required standards of International and UN Organizations. SWRDO has experienced and highly qualified relevant sector expert human resource which possesses demonstrated skills to handle the projects/programs technically as well as financially according to set TORs and to the complete satisfaction of funding partners. SWRDO is conducting its Internal, Annual, and 3rd party audits through TOP5 famous Audit companies. SWRDO has rich experience in implementing foreign-funded projects in the Punjab and the Sindh provinces of Pakistan. SWRDO has effective and functional liaison and coordination with the Provincial and District administrations of both mentioned provinces. Currently, SWRDO has well experienced sectoral expert staff, which includes 20 management staff and 130 field staff members are managing/implementing five projects.
 Organizational Governance and Management 
SWRDO has a general body of 21 members and an executive board of 7 members elected on a biannual basis. The general body meets twice a year to review the overall progress. The board controls the governance, policy, and decision making which guide the strategic framework of the organization and on the ground operations. SWRDO has a Projects Management Committee for overseeing projects implementation. The board designates the Coordinator/Executive Director who is responsible for the operations and achieving the organization’s objectives through program development and operations management. The organization comprises three main sections:
  • Admin, Finance and Procurement Section;
  • Technical and Social Section
  • Program Development Section.
Each program at SWRDO is being implemented by the concerned program coordinator through proper implementation of activities according to the work plan. However, the head office regularly monitors field activities, reviews meetings, field visits, and progress reports.
 SWRDO Staff and Volunteers :
SWRDO has 20 permanent staff members. It hires project staff for the implementation of development projects. As of Jan 2021, the total project staff strength is 115. Additionally, the organization has a cadre of 400 professional volunteers who provide technical and professional services as and when required.

 Transparency and Accountability :
SWRDO implementing all the projects according to sphere standards and HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Principals). SWRDO established a complaint mechanism in all their working community and ensure the accountability and transparency system at the community level and office level.
All the community complaints are registered in a proper way according to organization policy, project manager, monitoring & evolution officer solve complain about the participation of complainer and community.

Organizational Competencies and Capacities:
SWRDO has experienced and qualified human resource which possesses demonstrated skills to handle the projects technically as well as financially according to set TORs and to the complete satisfaction of funding partners. SWRDO keeps with the continuous process of capacity building of staff in fieldwork, monitoring, data entry, finance procedures, report writing, and making presentations. The organization believes that human development is the key to sustainable development and since its inception, SWRDO has been involved in various kinds of projects concerning research, advocacy, social mobilization WASH, Health and Education, DRR/DRM, awareness, and capacity building with gender sensitivity as a cross-cutting theme. SWRDO competency is capacity building Social mobilization, research, and analysis, while documentary making is also an additional skill of the organization.
Financial Management System:
SWRDO has Financial Accounting System (FAS) Online registered Software with approved financial policy and has registered Management Information System (MIS). All the organizational matters are guided by the policy manual which is recently revised & still ready to incorporate further improvements with the help of consultants, professionals, and board members. Regular audit of accounts is conducted by renowned external auditors QCR registered company.
